FIX YOUR PICS with REXiG HDR Camera

Platform: iPhone

Each generation, the iPhone improves its camera, but invariably, you end up taking photos that are too bright, or too dark or just plain out of focus. Sure, after you have downloaded the picture to your computer, you could manipulate the image in Photoshop or GIMP (no). Now you can edit those pics right on your iPhone – either by adjusting brightness, color saturation etc on your own or by choosing one of the multiple presets.  Each of the presets has a preview, so you can narrow down which filter will improve your image quickly. We at AoME spent much of the weekend fixing all those blurred, over saturated and murky images on our iPhone – and forwarding them to friends! REXiG HDR Camera is currently free, but usually costs $0.99. It was developed by Kentaro Yama at Rexig.com.

Fill Your Tank With SmartFuel®

While gas prices have fallen slightly from their all-time highs this spring,  they still are not the bargain they were years ago. SmartFuel®, for the Iphone, integrates with Google Maps and Oil Price Information Service (OPIS), and provides you the fuel prices at the gas stations in your area or along your chosen route. SmartFuel® is free for 30 days and then has a number of pricing plans for you to choose from ($4.99 for 6 months, $8.99 for one year, $14.99 for two years). The app also enables you to track your fuel costs and savings. For me, the 30 day trial period was enough for me to figure out which stations were cheapest in my area, but if you live in a large metropolitan area or travel frequently, SmartFuel® would be a solid investment. Every time I drop off a rental car, I’m annoyed by the higher prices near every US airport. Developer Iridium reports that SmartFuel will be available on Android phones later this year.

FastFinga

fastfinga_logoI’ve been so busy lately that I’ve resorted to writing reviews to myself via email on my iPhone whenever I get some free time.  While I’m alright with “thumb” typing, I’m not like the kids on the bus or the subway, who can tap tap away as they carry conversations with 3 other friends doing the same thing.  So when I learned that Catalystwo Limited was working on FastFinga from YouTube, it definitely piqued my interest.  You see, the man behind the app is Masatoshi Nishikata, who also created two other apps that I really like: Sketch Pad – Unlimited Canvas (great for doodling and notes) and Tanzaku Pad (translates to ’small piece of paper’, but is primarily a white board app).  It’s fairly obvious that Nishikata-san basically did iterations of similar products until he perfected the user experience in FastFinga, which, unlike it’s predecessors, can efficiently be customized to automatically enter text after a set elapsed time, expand the writing space in a single tap, copy and paste text, export to photo library, and even be emailed.  It’s definitely alot faster, has great controls, and most importantly, saves paper all for a great price.  Price: 99¢.
